When movement became art

I did this performance when I was 9 years old and I enjoyed it SO MUCHH!!
We did a bright + fun performance on a really upbeat song. We combined a normal Korvai and a Thillana to create this performance. I am the girl in the middle. I tried my best at the time but now, when I look back at it…I feel like I could have done wayyy better.

Devistuti is a performance that I did much more recently compared to EXPO. Therefore, I believe that I performed significantly better and I am the proudest of how well I’ve done in this performance out of all of the ones that I’ve done. It was a beautiful performance about the goddess Parvati, who was portrayed as a strong, independent and powerful woman. Though I did make mistakes, I hope you like it 🙂

This performance was an amazingly choreographed performance about equality. I thoroughly enjoyed learning it, looking into the meaning of the song and trying my best to portray that meaning using my facial expressions (or in more Bharatnatyam-ish terms, using abhinaya)

This performance happened right after the Devistuti. It contains more abhinaya since it is a Kautwam and doesn’t require a really adavu-based choreography. It is about Muruga, who (with the help of the vel that Parvati gave him) defeats all the demons who were terrorising the citizens. I played the role of the narrator and briefly played the role of a scared citizen.
